Project Overview
Witchlight is an original game spec for a single-player campaign-style RPG.
Sarah Ellings has been alive since the times of the Salem witch trials. She’s 219 years old, but hasn't aged a day in the last 200. Sunscreen and antioxidants? Nope- Sarah's a Sealer, chosen to drive demons back into their own world. Her handler Archangel tends to show up at the worst times with the shittiest of jobs for her to complete. She's afraid to make friends, let alone take a lover, for fear that they'll be used against her in the fight for humanity's survival.
After porting Into the Night to Unity, I plan to come back to revisit Witchlight. I'll either start off with a Visual Novel, or may re-use the game engine I create in Unity to create an RPG. Gameplay
The player mostly plays the role of Sarah but occasionally dips into her new friend Vaughan's storyline. Though Vaughan doesn't know it yet, he's the offspring of a higher being and a human, and therefore dangerous to humanity depending on the choices he makes. Sarah can be played either as an avatar of justice that will eventually choose to destroy Vaughan to keep humanity safe, or to protect her friend despite the risks.
Side quests involve helping to defend churches- those churches that fall spawn more demons into the world and weaken Sarah's powers. Conversely, if the player defeats demons and drives them back from a church, they can mine holy lore that yields new spells and weapons of Light.
